You are probably right.  But the blanket statement was (paraphrase) "IS 
lenses are more expensive than Pentax non-IS lenses."  Too be honest the 
quickie check I did was for a lens I am interested in.  The 17-85 Canon 
EF-S IS lens is over $500 whereas the nearest Pentax focal length 
equivelent is like $200 but I'm not interested in that type of lens.
