Oddly, though, Kern only made 50mm lenses for Alpa, so far as I know, while making a variety of focal lengths for Bolex. Kern was not connected with Paillard, Bolex was. The Kern factory was primarily a maker of very fine binoculars, including the innovative Focalpin series that were hermetically sealed. The factory still exists, but was bought some years ago by Leica. I have a nice pair of Leica binoculars made in the old Kern factory.
