I purchased an item called a Trek-Pod. It doubles as a walking staff, but it can also be used as a monopod, or, get this, a tripod. The lower part of the Trek Pod has the three legs held together by a velcro strip. You can unlock the legs by pulling the strip off. The head of the Trek Pod is a ball head. The camera is held on the ball head using a magnet. Everytime I use it, I get a lot of comments on it. Two friends have purchased one for their use.
