Don, you really don't have to get it exactly perfect. Near enough is
good enough. The pano software nowadays is very tolerant.

This is how I do it:

(BTW those aren't my hands/tripod/pano rig, they belong to another list member)

I use a Starrett bulls eye level for the tripod & a Hama two axis hot
shoe mounted spirit level for the camera:

Depending on how much time you want to spend leveling everything it
can be as accurate or inaccurate as you want.
