Jens, I don't think that many would argue what you've written below.  But it's 
quite different from your statement that started the ruckus -- that users of 
digital are either uncritical of the results or spend a lot of time on 
post-production.  This is only true if you're not shooting optimally.

Likewise, I challenge your blanket "jpegs suck" statement.  They suck IF you 
make bad exposure choices, yes.

Aside from their appropriateness for radical exposure changes, which I agree 
that they're no good for, what problems do you have with jpegs?

But for the average P&S or family album photographer, film is surely the
easiest way to go. And film will - unless you spend a lot of time and money
catching up on RAW conversion, colour profiles, Photoshop etc. - produce
better results.
