I am on two other photo mailing lists, one of which I subscribed to recently, and one of which was Leica oriented (I say "was" because many of the Leicaphiles on that list have switched to or are frequently using digital cameras other than Leica), and was pleasantly surprised by the number of Pentax DSLR users. It seems that the istDS is a pretty popular camera.
At least two photogs that I know personally who have been staunch film users are anxiously waiting for the new Pentax bodies for their first DSLR purchase.
