I use NiMH batteries to save money on replacements when at home, and also because they give the best recycle times with my flash units when I use them. I simply schedule charging one set every week with a good charger and rotate them through the camera in the process. I always keep a backup set of CRV3 lithium disposables in the bag for emergencies, and charge up the NiMH batts if I'm going on a shoot and know I'll need a lot of power to spare.
The charger is significant in getting the most from a NiMH set. Maha makes some excellent chargers. This one is well thought of and not particularly expensive: Maha PowerEx MH-C204W <http://www.thomas-distributing.com/maha-powerex-mh-c204w-nimh- battery-charger.htm> or http://tinyurl.com/5vgx2 Godfrey On Jun 25, 2006, at 4:42 PM, John Coyle wrote: > I've just tried changing battery brands, from Energizer to > Duracell.
