Godfrey, I too have noticed the rather late actuation of the iris blades
????
I'm afraid you are right, Godfrey. The camera seem to chose the same speed
regardless of the aperture setting - meaning it fires wide open :-(
However, in Manual mode this is not the case. The aperture works in time.
But the speed has to be set manually. If you turn the wheel while holding
down the DOF dial, the viewfinder will tell you how many stops you are off.
You can correct the exposure with the thumb wheel (until the reading says
0.0). Then you'll get correctly exposed images.
But i's troublesome - adn will keep me from using M or K lenses, except
maybe for flash photography.

Jens

Be sure ...

According to the instruction manual and my experience with the DS,
using the DS/2 and DL/2 a K-mount or M-series lens will only stop
down to taking aperture at the time of exposure in Manual or B
exposure mode. The iris mechanism is operated the lens is actually
wide open at exposure time ... the actuation of the iris is after the
exposure as the mirror returns.

All other exposure modes default to Av regardless of the position of
the mode selector. The camera sets an exposure time for whatever the
ISO, lighting conditions, and lens full-aperture might be.

If it is otherwise on the DL, this is news to me. :-)
