Got to reply to this. It seems that you are making assumptions about others. I for one, looked long and hard before making any decisions and also bought a DSLR that I could return if it didn't turn out to be a direction that I wanted to go. I had two 67II bodies and a series of lenses in use at the time - quite a lot of money tied up in it - so it was not a simple decision.
As for others, we don't really know. I can tell you only about those I personally know. Digital for my family (wife and two daughters) that actually use cameras has been a direction that they and I chose rather than being herded. For them, it is about capturing moments and memories - not about making prints. Sometimes they have prints made, sometimes we make DVD slideshows, sometimes we put them on the web and sometimes we email them to others. There is no way that I could get them to go back to film cameras at this point. They see photography from a whole different direction than I and many others do - it is not a hobby or a way to make a living - it is just a recording of life. The girls use MySpace and post pictures there and would be hard pressed to use a film camera for that. They take tons of pictures as a form of recreation with their friends. Film would be prohibitively expensive for doing that and would be no fun. It is sort of like when us oldies used to go down to Woolworth's and sit in the little booth to get our strip of (passport) pictures - making silly faces and poses. It's a brave new world... -- Best regards, Bruce Wednesday, June 21, 2006, 3:38:05 PM, you wrote: BW> For the avoidance of doubt, I'm not rejecting it or being grumpy.
