Apple seem to want to turn into a company that sells tin, rather than one

Apple write a heck of a lot more software than just OS X. Some of it is actually quite good.

FWIW I think they've become a software company that uses its software to sell its hardware. When I bought my computer I bought it for the OS alone. I couldn't care less what's inside the shiny box, but I had to buy the shiny box with the Apple on the side as that's all that would run the OS I wanted.
