The one problem I see is in trying to copy files from one OS to the other. A USB thumb-drive might come in handy as I'm not sure that the systems can read/write each others filesystems (NTFS, HFS+). If you can format the XP volume to FAT32 you'd be OK but will have trouble with large files (>4Gb).
I still think the virtual machine (VMware) option is better.
There are rumours that Apple is working on this for inclusion in OS X 10.5, but don't believe anything until you see it.
