Friend, singular, don't know his boss. But yes, I agree.

He shared all this with me when he was debating what to do. He was willing:
1. To quit, if ordered to do it.
2. Be fired for being unwilling to comply.

Fortunately, he was only on tender hooks for about three days before he 
talked to his boss. And like I said, his boss understood.

I told my friend he was an unsung hero. Really and seriously.

Okay, I guess now I've been singing his praises, so he's no longer totally 
unsung. :-)

A heroic act. Often heroes are those who take stands -- small 
courageous/moral stands, not big earthshaking stands -- that others will 
usually never know 
about.
