...And the quality of Vivitar products has varied greatly over the years. This is also true specifically for the Series 1 lenses, too. While they were almost always of very high calibre in the 70's and early-to-mid 80's, afterwards there was a lot of "resting on the laurels", and many of the newer so-called "Series 1" lenses have been mediocre (however, this has not always been the case).
