They may be able to find a specific lens over a year if the buyer remains sufficiently vigilant but it doesn't mean that they can buy even it they are willing to offer big $$. I do log prices of that sort of gear, I also log availability and many of the available pieces weren't available to purchasers in my locale. Obviously there are ways around it but I'd much rather be able to go to my local photo shop and bang a CC on the sales counter for what I want and when. The current situation is ludicrous.
