Hi!
You are absolutely right. I am very happy with wide-mid primes that
Pentax made.
Good ;-). It feels good to be right every now and then ;-).
But,
First, Pentax should put more info in the viewfinder, like the METERING
MODE !!!
I'd rather they've put in the ISO rating... Otherwise, I think it is
getting crowded there already... In fact, the layout of *istD is ideal
to my taste except ISO rating. I do tend to forget to reset it to 200
ISO after I go indoors and set it to higher values... I don't use the
auto-ISO function because it is not smart enough.
In fact, it just occurs to me that instead of special position of main
knob on the left they could introduce just one more knob with ISO rating
and A setting being automatic. This way they will make it readily
available and just as pleasant to use as MZ-5n controls.
Second, Pentax should make some decent small and light F4 full frame
lenses.
I agree with you here... I handled Canon 70-200/4 and I quite liked it,
especially the results that one of my friends has shown to me... However
I don't think it would be good enough a reason to jump ship... No matter
how wide the selection, you can always bump into some unusual situation
where your favorite brand wouldn't have an immediate answer.
In fact, if my eyesight was sharp enough and I could manually focus
longer lenses, I would simply buy Pentax SMC A 70-210/4 and enjoy myself
like I think Bruce Dayton does.
OTOH, FA 28-70/4 was a wonderful lens... So one can say you *almost*
have your answer here...
I don't think those are difficult, but Pentax just never did that after
Z-1p.
Some claim that Z-1p was pinnacle of Pentax design and engineering. I
personally only had a chance to work with Z-1... I loved the camera.
Pentax could be better in some respects... But somehow I am certain that
all other manufacturers still have some room to improvement.
Although, like I said - it is your choice and I am just as certain you
have your good reasons to do what you're doing.
