I haven't heard any reports of microdrives being delicate. Have you
experienced many failures?

I expect the main reason built-in hard drives would be unsuitable for PJ
work would be the inability to swap cards and have someone working on or
transmitting the first batch while the photographer kept shooting, or
for physically separating different projects or sequences. I wouldn't be
surprised at all to see them showing up in consumer cameras.
