Special interest groups who wish to get someone's attention will sometimes buy an ad in a prestigious publication. A full-page ad in Japan's most prestigious photo magazine would probably get the attention of Pentax. I would guess it would cost about $5000, although it might be quite a bit more. But if it were only 5K, 100 people could pull it off for $50 each. Tough to organize, but probably quite effective.
I am concerned about the effect this could have on Pentax. I feel it can shake the backward-compatibility blanket statement, to the detriment of the company. Sure, the blanket statement can be misleading if you don't read the small print, but I am not going to partake in exposing this in a fixed format.
I have been attending mailing lists for well over a decade. Past attempts at agreeing a petition have been mired in ambivalence. I believe I have been involved in the first two of quite a few that have been drafted in my active times in certain lists; in the rest I was resigned to the futility of the exercise.
