I see you are all working on the BW conversion solutions so i wanted to share some information. Lately, i've found a GREAT PS (yes it's only photoshop.. sorry) freeware plugin that does extrimely good B&W and other conversions, knows to add many types of grain and all kind of special effect... it's called virtualPhotographer and it can be downloaded (including lots of additional configurations for it) from here: http://www.optikvervelabs.com/
Just tried it... I am less than impressed. Shel's technique of channel mixer plus hue/saturation layers worked better for me... I'll be sure to try again. It looks interesting at least.
