You will loose a few things, but you will gain some to. Both are capable
cameras. 
For me the main feature of *istDS is ergonomics, the lines of the body. It
suits my hands like a perfect glove. I felt crippled when trying a 300D, but
that’s me and my hands. If you like the ergonomics of the 300D, keep it. If
you don't, go for it.

The cards? It felt bed when I had to let my CF cards go when going from
Olympus to the DS. But now, when the switch is done, I don't think about it
anymore.

DS2? There is always a new model coming...
