This morning I ordered an istDS. I'd like to thank EVERYONE who, over the
past couple of weeks or so, has replied to my many questions about the
camera and how various features and lenses work. I've thanked a few people
off list, and this is to cover any I may have missed.

I'm excitedly looking forward to receiving this puppy. My Sony was
slightly damaged in a fall making it difficult to use on a tripod, and with
the price of the DS so low, and so close to the better quality P&S and
"prosumer" digis, it seemed like a good time to make the purchase. Reviews
in sites other than DPreview and Steve's have been quite positive about
this camera, too. Having used a Nikon D70, a Canon Rebel, and one of the
bigger Canon bodies, I knew they were not for me. Too cheap, poor finder,
or too heavy were my biggest complaints. The prosumer digis had problems
similar to the Sony DSC-S85 (which, for the most part, I really liked), and as nice as the istD is (Thanks to Bruce for allowing me a day to play with
one of his), I just couldn't see my way to spend $600.00 more for it over
the DS, at least not for my first DSLR.

I just hope I get a good one and then I can start complaining about the
lack of a full-frame DSLR from Pentax <LOL>

BTW, what's the widest lens currently available for this camera, Pentax or
otherwise? No need to mention the new Penatx 12~24 zoom.
