I've done this a few times.  What I did was either go to the greeting card
company's site where there might be guidelines for submission or call the
company.  That's the first step.  It also helps to know what the card
companies are looking for ...  some prefer humorous subjects, others B&W
photos, and so on.  Make your presentations appropriate.  Hallmark, BTW,
was not a company a wanted to show my work to.


I didn't respond intitially, I didn't think I had much to add, but....
A few years ago, a friend of mine decided she wanted to do Christmas cards for fun and profit. I believe she set up her own publishing company (not hard, just register a name) and she found a small press company who could do the short runs that she was after. Her interest was to get her work into small independant shops, rather than large chains. I suspect that the large companies (Hallmark, et al) probably have their own in house everything, and aren't too interested in talking to independants.
