Hi Shel,

Yes and no... It depends on how much the banding is visible,
which varies a lot depending on the subject. When I first saw it
on a series of pictures (in very low light) I called the
assistance (Tecno2000, in Florence) almost immediately, but the
digital repair man wasn't there, so I spent the rest of the day
searching about the problem on the net. It seems to be a common
problem under those circumstances, so when I eventually talked
to the man I was a bit reassured (although not happy at all).
Sometimes it's a thing that can ruin the picture, sometimes it
is barely noticeable. It does NOT happen always. I'd be really
glad to avoid it, of course...
