Cotty proposed the following explanation for Adobe not supporting the new digital Rebel:

"...but playing devil's advocate a moment, the majority of Rebel XT
purchasers will not be purchasing CS2 - hence support for XT RAW files is included in Elements 3. I think it's jolly bad form that Adobe will not likely release an update for CS users, but I can also see why they won't bother."

Cotty, why do you think that most XT buyers won't want the full Photoshop? I don't know much about the camera but Susan did some research before she bought and weighed the pros and cons of the Rebel XT vs. the 20D. She told me there weren't many real world differences. She did think that the XT was enough of an upgrade over her D60 to justify the purchase. I think she chose the XT over the D20 because it's smaller and lighter. I'm sure that she didn't know that the raw files would be an issue.

To all the digital enthusiasts, I'm sorry for that earlier mini-rant.
