So many of the so called critiques here take the form of I would have moved ten feet to the right when that would have been impossible because there was a wall there, or the photographer would have been standing on air with a 200 foot fall under him, or in water up to his neck. Unless you have been there you do not know what the situation at the site was.

What he said.  exactly.  Someone actually said
that about one of my
shots a while back - forgot what it was - but it
was a grab shot from
the only place I could have been standing or
sitting or whathaveyou.
I'm not sure if it was even one I liked - I throw
things up occasionally just to show you guys the
thing for its own sake.

That sort of comment may, in some situations be unhelpful for the reasons given, but more often than not, it is a perfectly valid question, and for those times when the camera position was the best possible, it's pretty easy for the photographer to point it out as part of the discussion.
