Generally: - Look for 7-element T/Cs (the Vivitar 2x Macro focusing T/C has a good reputation). - The higher the magnification of the T/C the more compromised image you can expect (very general comment, applicable all things being equal). - The Takumar K-mount products are budget lines, lacking at least the SMC coatings that are central to Pentax's lens reputation. I have the Vivitar Macro focusing beast, but find the Pentax 1.7x AF Adapter to be very useful for my trivial photography and an excellent idea, as it makes bright manual lenses AF. HTH, Kostas
