<Canon DigiRebel> doesn't write while half pressing shutter button...
Are you sure about this?
I just now set continuous and fired off 15 shots. It didn't light up the memory card light until I finally let up on the shutter button. It was then very busy for a while.
The original DigiRebel supposedly runs DOS inside of it...<!>
