OK we've now got quite a few DSLR owners on board with a bit of use behind
them, how about a quick informal usage survey?

For those DSLR users with 35mm gear who thought before buying their DSLR that
their 35mm film usage would:

        Remain the same?
        Be halved?
        Become occasional?
Become specific (i.e. B&W only or high ISO or slide only)?
        Cease all together?

Become occasional.

Did your subsequent actual film use match your prior expectations?

Yes, and more so. Film use is now VERY occasional.

For users who had Pentax SLRs prior to purchasing a Pentax DSLR did you end up buying one or more new lenses specifically to suit the DSLR?

I've bought a load of lenses because the camera has rekindled an old interest in photography (and also because I discovered Ebay, so the spending spree hasn't been too financially damaging). The SMCP-FA 20mm lens was specifically to suit the D. I've also tended to buy more F and FA lenses than K, M, or A because my eyes aren't what they used to be.

The argument in favour of digital for me is not that it's "better" than film (whatever that means), but because of immediacy, convenience, low/no cost per image, creative control, and freedom from crappy processing.

Incidentally, I recently bought a second D body (at a pretty good price) before they disappear. IMO future DSLRs are unlikely to be much better, unless they cost rather more, and if they cost less I fear that it will be because quality has been compromised.
