I did see reference to this somewhere in the preview... I think you have to set "action" mode to get it. Pity it's not a third position on the selector switch.
Narrower flash angle coverage
Check those numbers again. The new camera was specified as "28mm equivalent", the older model as "18mm". 18 x 1.6 = about 29mm so it's about the same.
