The Shwangunks are further north, yes, but not far - The train to Port Jervis runs along the side of my Mountainville mountain and crosses a tressle there that has gotten rather famous. The great thing about that area is you can get there easily by bus or train to get out and hike then return to the city the same day if need be -- but my friends there are like family to me so of course I always stay over. God I'm losing it can't think of ther range, cant spell the name... ann
