I bought a Vivitar Series 1 90/2.5 with fungus about three years ago.
(The seller acknowledged the problem, and I bought it for less than a
hundred dollars.) My local repair facility complete disassembled the
lens and sterilized all the parts. I believe they used chlorine bleach
and alcohol, along with some microwaving of non metal parts. The fungus
has never returned, and the lens is perfect. They billed me $90 for the work.
