I wonder if *ist D would be able
to use such a lenses in the future? According to this patent no, because it
doesn't have powerzoom contact neccessary to drive in-lens motor. but maybe
they have found another way to transmit power to the lens.
I doubt that the patent protection is limited to the use of the power zoom contacts, so from that point of view can use any contact they want.
