That was a little long winded. My point was that was switching brands to change one mid-level slr w/ cheap zooms for another mid-level slr with cheap zooms is fairly pointless. There are reasons to switch to Canon but the Elan 7 isn't one of them.
IMO, there is a quality gap between Pentax & Nikon/Canon/Minolta consumer zooms, and I don't mean the very low end one. And we all know the FA*2.8 zooms are aging and have slow AF when compared to the competitions, not to mention their price tags.
