In my experience, TMX and TMY have always come back "muddy",
while Tri-X and HP5 (and TMZ if there's enough contrast in 
the scene to begin with) come back "crisp", with much higher 
contrast.  This probably has something to do with the developer
the labs I go to use.  Actually, it probably says more about
the choice of developer than it does about the films, since
I've had at least one person look at my like I had green skin
and scales when I said that I found Tri-X more contrasty than
TMax.  But there's also the caveat that once I decided I 
preferred Tri-X, I stopped experimenting with TMax (and Delta) 
other than the 3200 stuff.

I *really* *like* Tri-X.
