I second what Cotty said. In addition to being quicker to use, card readers also run off the computer's power instead of the camera's, so you don't have to worry about what would happen if your batteries die while you're transferring data (potentially very bad). And, once you've installed the necessary drivers for the reader, the card reader functions like a drive, so you can just click-and-drag files to your desktop or folders. Not all cameras can act as drives, so if you hook your camera up to your computer you often need a program running just to transfer the photos to your computer, and software can be a Very Bad (or at least Annoying) Thing. chris
