It's a wonderful lens. I've always felt it to be under-rated or at least under-appreciated. Not quite fast enough to be "sexy" or exotic, they're cheap as hell (I know that's not an issue, Steve, because you already own one), often going for $10 or so on eBay. I suppose that because they were the "standard" lens, while the faster ones were upgrades, they were never thought of as "premium" lenses, but the truth is that other than speed, they're as good as the faster ones in pretty much every respect, IMHO.
