Max,

Sorry it took me so long to respond but I have a very full plate.  I have 100's of forms to convert and I am the only one in the company who even knows a little about Adobe.  This is about a question I had posed about a month ago concerning how a form can become two pages if necessary.  Here are the answers to the questions you asked:

Will persons filling out that form have a full version of Acrobat or Approval? No, neither.

How many persons will have to fill out this form? Apx. 70 we have communities in 5 different states.  Some are in the corporate office where I am located but most are out in the field.

Will they have Reader? Yes, everyone currently has access to Reader 6.0.  I am the only one in the company who has access to the full version of Acrobat.

So, is there a way for this form to spawn a 2nd page if needed or how would I add a duplicate page and just make it an automatic 2 page form?

I hope you can help because this has been driving me crazy.  SInce I am the only one who knows how to use this program if I run into a roadblock I am basically stuck.  The list has saved me many times before hopefully you can this time!  Thanks!

Amy Sachs

This can be done.

There are a few things to consider beforehand, however.

First, will the persons filling out that form have a full version of
Acrobat or Approval?

Second, if not, how many persons will have to fill out this form? Are
they within your organization, or are they "out there"?

Third, if not, will they have at least Reader?

In the first case, you could use the Template functionality of Acrobat,
which allows you to mark a page as a Template and to "spawn" new pages
from this template. You can do this programmatically, and you have
quite a bit of control over everything. The only drawback of this is
that Reader is not allowed to handle Templates, and therefore, the end
users would need something "better", such as a full Acrobat version or
Approval.

If the volume of the form is big enough that it justifies it, there is
one way to make Reader 5.1 and newer use Templates, and that would be
to add Extended Rights to the document. For that you would need Adobe
Document Server for Reader Extensions. For further descriptions look
around for some of my posts in the past, and/or contact your Adobe
_Enterprise_ sales person. Licencing models can be negociated.

And, if that fails, there is a possibility I have built into my PDF
Shopping Cart toolkit, which uses "virtual" pages, and does work within
Reader. The description of this procedure would extend the scope of
this mailing list, therefore, feel free to contact me in private for
further information and pricing.

Hope, this can help.
