Well, what forms with Extended Rights have above all other solutions is that they don't need any external help for local saving or for being commented on. Such forms will work without any kind of internet connection, for example.
However, there could be a little confusion coming up. Adobe has a product named "Adobe Document Server", which is a server application to assemble documents, as well as to handle incoming documents and data (although the "hard core" data handling would be done with the Adobe Forms Server). The product we have been discussing about here is "Adobe Document Server for Reader Extensions". It is using some core components of the Document Server (and it is also on the same CD as Document Server). However, this is already all these two products have in common... well, except that they are "enterprise grade" products, meaning that they are not intended for end users.
The following rant is not aimed at any specific person in this discussion:

It is sometimes a bit tiring to hear the whining about those enterprise products. I mean, enterprises will buy and use them, but not individuals. Or would you as an individual buy a bus to do your commute? Do you whine about the "ridiculously high price" of a bus? See what I mean.

For what it's worth I have just finished demoing a service from FormRouter that allows users with Reader to securely fill in and submit forms (pdf or html) at $2500 US per document. I don't know what Adobe Document Server offers up and above and FormRouter?
