Harold, I've never heard of any of these programs, and I suspect you
don't need any of them. It's entirely possible they are the cause of
your disappearing icons, but I couldn't tell without inspecting each of
them, and I just don't have the time.
For the record, I use AVG Free Edition, Windows Defender and,
occasionally, Easy Cleaner. Most experts say to use more than one
Anti-Spyware app, but I haven't found it necessary. I also don't visit
as many murky places on the web as I used to.
I think experimentation is good, but it will sometimes lead to quirky
results such as you're getting, and can be hard to diagnose.
Maybe try uninstalling some of the freebies and see if that helps.

own subject line. I only mentioned it here thinking on a long shot the
