Socket 7 is square, Slot 1 is, well.......a slot. ;-)

What's on a mobo is meaningless, always out of date. You'd
think they'd correct these things with new silk-screening since
they do that with the mobo revision #'s, but not with the
jumper info for CPU's! Only way to know is to go the mobo
maker's website and find out the specs for the latest revision.
Of course if it's Socket 7, don't bother, nor would I with XP.
If it's a Slot then you need to find out if it can take faster
CPU's and if it's close to 800mhz or so, XP may be worth it.

'98 isn't an option? ME isn't much of an "upgrade" over '98,
but it shouldn't require any more CPU power over '98. If NT
was working ok on it, why not stay with it?

How about Millennium? Would that operate any better?

On the Socket 7 and Slot 1. How do I tell? There are no
indication on
the Mother Board that I can see. The Pentium chip has 20 pins
in one
direction and A thru Y in the other.

The computer speed has jumpers that can go from 90 mhz
processor with
60mhz bus speed up to max of 233 mhz MMX and 66 mhz on the bus.
It is
jumped at max.
