Thanks for the reply Tom and I have been all through that with the tech on my Linksys. At the end they determined it was a DNS issue and said to go back to the mfg of the software. I have been under the impression that I should be able to get to the internet without considering the NVDVR system. That may not be true. Check my answers to Peter.

software is XP and I have no security installed like firewall etc. I
turned XP's off. (I am in over my head.)
