Sorry to bother you ... problem was fixed by re-installing the last copy of the registry. I must have removed an important key controlling the left pane of the Explorer window. That was a close one; good thing I had that backup ... Harold
Original problem ... I'm using Windows 98 and in my Explorer window (the only one I use; that's the one with a double pane), the plus marks in the left pane do not work. They only open up as I open up folders in the right pane. Although I never use the "Open" window, the same problem exists there.
