The first would be to go to the icon on the desktop for the netscape
messenger and right click, select properties and then in the dropdown,
select maximized.  Second, the next time he has an message editing
window open, hold down the control key and close the window with the x
in the upper right. Many times, this will set the default for a reply to
maximized.
