My suggestion would be to just burn the files in this folder:
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
to your CD/Zip disk. (The main files you want are any files with
extensions: *.pst, *.PAB, *.RWZ, *.NICK, *.ADR. If they are not in that
folder, you can do a search for them typing in exactly how I typed them.
This will search for any file with those "endings".) That way, you can
always just paste them back into that folder if you have problems and need
to re-install Office again. That will save your Personal folders, your
rules set up to sort your mail, and everything else you've done to
personalize your Outlook.
If you ever do a reformat, I would even suggest placing the files on your
second HD, so that in case you do erase everything if your system crashes,
you can just tell Outlook to look for them on the second drive that you
didn't have to reformat, or have go bad. That way, you only have to reload
your programs, but your mail is separate. (Not saying you shouldn't still
back it up though.) FYI, this is also a great way if anyone uses a dual
boot system to have both Outlooks use the same *.pst file.)
