Hello Duncan,
Thank you for the history and the back story. It is interesting.
I saw the recent message from Dominique regarding sqlite and that there
is a testing version. I may give that a try in the next little while.
Your information is useful. .
My issue with the large groups is I don't get onto usenet often enough
to expire article after a few days. Real life. :)
For standard searched nzb downloads, I don't use Pan anymore, due to
obfuscation for many of files I search for.. A future feature request
for pan? Of course, this is also the issue with millions of posts
suddenly showing up in a group that was low traffic before.
As for changing config files and that, I can figure most of them out. I
will be looking at the cache settings and the possible corrupt files
that you point out. I have lots of free ram on this system and maybe
that is what I need to look at.
Some servers have years of headers that are if interest and that is a
large number and download bandwidth to lose on a crash. It is
frustrating, hence my question.
It just took many minutes to open pan on my computer. Now to figure out
where all the config files are. I will have to look at the cache and
config files. Not sure about your comment about "wrappers."
Robin
