To mitigate the removal of StatusIcon, I suggest you discuss with Pan package maintainer on slackware to compile pan with -DWANT_DBUS=1 and -DWANT_NOTIFY=1 With these 2 options, pan is able to send notification even when minified. You can find attached a screenshot done with Debian's Pan 0.158 which shows such notification. Otherwise, I plan to make these 2 options on by default on next release, so you can stick with pan 0.158 until 0.160 is out. Hope this helps
