I've checked. It's gtk2:
$ ldd /tmp/pan | grep gtk

On Debian, I had to compile pan with Gtk3 because pan with gtk2 crashed often 
with KDE.

You should try to compile pan with gtk3 .

debug symbols on slackware.

Please try pan with gtk3 first.
