I ran into some similar issues myself - it may be advisable to remove the configuration after building with gtk3, since the issues may be caused by settings that are being set with the gtk3 build. Maybe you already removed the config, but often times I see issues with software (in general) that are caused by using a messed-up config. If that's happening here, that might explain why you're seeing it.
