You mean something like the open standard OpenDocument used by
OpenOffice, Abiword, WordPerfect, KOffice, Google Docs and many others?
Find me a standard that handles the data I need to use and I'll use it.
It works for Eric Raymond, Guido van Rossum, Richard Stallman, and
hundreds of others.
If you do some research you will find all of the above have other
incomes to help support them. They don't rely on their software as their
main source of income. So should I go and get another job so I can make
my code open source then spend all of my free time working on it to
provide the level of support I currently provide? Sorry, I am just not
that dedicated.
