I follow the list vie gmane, which may or may not be relevant. The last message I see is one from K. Haley on 10/4/2009 at 4:30 PM (EDT)
What's odd, is that it shows as 0 lines long. If I look at the same message in the mailing list archives mentioned at rebelbase, or if I look at it at the gmane website, there is text in the message. The other odd thing about the message is that it, seemingly, can't be marked read. Each time I start pan, pan thinks there is 1 unread message in the group, which is always the one from K. Haley. I say mark it read and the unread count goes to 0, I exit pan, and it is, once again, marked as new. Any ideas on why (and how to "fix" it?)
