Hmm, yeah, nothing like that, that I'm aware of.  The best I could 
suggest would be either purposefully not reading your own messages, or 
doing so and then marking them unread again, so you track them by unread 
status.

But if you're like me, you already use unread for tracking something else 
(but of course, if you're like me, you wouldn't be needing this, so... 
maybe you /can/ do the unread thing).
